I would happily devour a baked potato at every meal, be it with steak, BBQ, or a sensible salad. They’re just so fluffy and perfect! So, why not consider a baked potato bar at your next party? Wrap them in foil and lay them out a whole slew of unique toppings for your guests to enjoy.  Trust me; they’ll be a huge hit! Of course, it’s not quite as easy as throwing together a sundae bar, and you might be wondering: what can you put on baked potatoes besides butter? As always, I have you covered! This list of 25 baked potato toppings for your baked potato bar will satisfy everyone, from the kids and grown-ups to spice-lovers and vegetarians.

1. Pepperoni Pizza

Baked potatoes without salt and butter are the perfect vessel for pretty much any topping. The flavor is so mild that you can add anything your heart desires! Baked potatoes without salt and butter are the perfect vessel for pretty much any topping. The flavor is so mild that you can add anything your heart desires! I don’t know about you, but my heart almost always desires pepperoni pizza!  I would recommend getting the mini-pepperonis or chopping up the larger slices to mix into the potato better.  Also, they’re best if you take the time to broil them first. They will crisp up on the edges and release their natural oils, making them even tastier.

2. Pot Roast

We already serve potatoes with our pot roast, so why wouldn’t you serve pot roast with your baked potatoes? This is the perfect option for when you have leftovers from Sunday dinner. The tender meat and veggies mixed with the fluffy potato and gravy will take you right back to grandma’s house!

3. Taco

Be it ground beef or chicken; your potato will thank you for this spicy upgrade! My tacos almost always consist of some kind of seasoned meat with cheese, lettuce, salsa, and sour cream, all of which will sit beautifully on your baked potato.  I like mine spicy, so expect plenty of jalapeños and a generous dollop of guacamole to boot.

4. Chili

When I make chili, I like to make a big batch to last us a solid few days. Some days we’ll have it with rice, others we’ll make a big batch of nachos with lots of cheese and guac.  But my favorite has to be a spoonful of steaming chili over a freshly baked potato. Since I always put in way too many peppers, the mild potato is the perfect way to mellow it out.  Of course, I also top the whole thing with plenty of cheese (which I broil for a few minutes until it’s ooey and gooey) and a bit of sour cream for good measure.

5. Indian

Chickpea curry is one of my go-to vegan dishes and it’s beloved by meat eaters and vegans alike.  Between the incredible flavors and texture, you don’t miss the meat for a second.  If you’re going to use it as a baked potato topping, it’s best to cook everything down first. That will help the curry flavors infuse and soften up those chickpeas to just the right texture.

6. BBQ

Given how expensive BBQ can be – getting the right cut and hours of low, slow cooking – it’s nice to know you can pair it with something tasty, but cheap. To be honest, I love a baked potato with my BBQ simply because it lets the meat shine. Be it chicken, brisket, or melt in your mouth pulled pork, it’s better to have something filling, but not so bold you can’t taste all your hard work.

7. Buffalo Chicken

Buffalo chicken is such a heavenly mixture of spicy and creamy. The buffalo sauce provides all the heat and that great, vibrant coloring, and the Gorgonzola is such a perfect cheese to balance that all out. Mix it with chicken, and you’ll have one hearty meal. Now picture it over a steaming baked potato with sour cream and green onions scattered over the top.  Pretty drool-worthy, right?

8. Classic

No matter how many toppings you offer for your baked potato bar, you know there will always be one picky eater.  To satisfy those guests with a simpler palate, you really can’t go wrong with some sour cream, shredded cheese, and bacon bits.

9. Mexican

How do you get all those sensational taco flavors without adding seasoned beef or chicken? Beans! Adding a mix of black beads, cheese, salsa, and guac to your baked potato will let the vegetarians (and vegans if you leave out the cheese) enjoy those same great Mexican flavors without the meat.

10. BLT

BLT – bacon, lettuce, and tomato – is a classic. When I’m out to lunch, I’ll choose it more often than not because it has everything you could want in a sandwich.  I like to use cherry tomatoes because they’re a little sweeter, and when I shred my lettuce, I try to make it pretty thin.  The best thing to do is mix everything with a dollop of ranch dressing, so you’ll get a bit of everything in each bite.

11. Breakfast Potatoes

When I’m making a big, hearty breakfast full of bacon and eggs, I have to have some form of potato on the table, too.  Being a big fan of breakfast for dinner, this combo is so appealing to me!  Scrambled eggs will work best here since you’re looking to serve this at a baked potato bar, so go ahead and cook the bacon and cheese right into the eggs.

12. Greek

My favorite thing about Greek flavors is that you don’t need a whole lot to get some incredible flavor in your meals.  Olives and artichokes are readily available and bursting with flavor, and when you pair it with salty feta and Greek yogurt, a little goes a long way.

13. Broccoli and Cheese

I make broccoli and cheese quiche, pasta, and soup. It’s a fabulous blend of flavors, and I find that even kids will eat their veggies when mixed with a nice bit of cheddar. The easiest way to make this is with frozen, chopped broccoli. Just be sure to let it thaw and drain before you use it.

14. Ranch

Hands up if you put ranch dressing on everything? It’s a family fave for a reason, and when you’re looking for something simple, you really can’t go wrong with a simple squeeze of ranch over your fluffy potato.

15. Chicken Alfredo

Feel free to make your own, but if you want to keep your prep down, a jar of alfredo sauce will be such an easy way to make this creamy classic.  Leftover rotisserie chicken is my favorite for this since it comes super seasoned and juicy. But I’ve also used bacon bits and chopped pork sausages for something a little different.

16. Everything Bagel

The first time I saw Trader Joe’s Everything But the Bagel Seasoning, I went a little crazy. I bought maybe five jars, and the next thing I knew, everything I made was covered in the stuff! I stand by it because it was the first time I tried it over a baked potato, and it was life-changing! Mix the seasoning with a little cream cheese, and you won’t ever go back to a plain baked potato.  No Trader Joe’s near you? Try making your own seasoning instead!

17. Jalapeño Popper

For this recipe, I recommend scooping out the flesh of the potato. Mix that with some chopped chilies and cheese before spooning it back into the potato skin.  Top with extra cheese and bread crumbs and broil for a few minutes before serving.

18. Thanksgiving

We all know that the combination of turkey, stuffing, and gravy is second to none, right? That being said, we don’t always have a big old bird ready to go. We all know that the combination of turkey, stuffing, and gravy is second to none, right? That being said, we don’t always have a big old bird ready to go. Don’t worry; this can be made with chicken too! If you have leftover chicken and a box of stuffing, this will be even easier!

19. Blue Cheese

Like with the ranch, you can always use a simple blue cheese dressing for this. It will be intense, flavorful, and super creamy.  But if you want to take it up a notch, try using the real deal. The added texture will be such a nice change.

20. Roasted Vegetables

For the healthy folks in the crowd, you should probably offer something without cheese 🙂 Roasted veggies are an excellent option for adding great taste and texture. Bonus points if you grill them on the BBQ!

21. Spinach and Artichoke

I’ve never met a person who said no to a scoop of spinach and artichoke dip. Best served hot, a layer of bubbling cheese on top if mandatory. I would make up a batch of the dip and serve in the same way. That way, your guests can scoop it out nice and hot and get plenty of melted cheese with their topping.

22. Naked

For the extra picky people at the party, salt and pepper are your new besties.  Maybe take it up a notch with sea salt and cracked black pepper. Or, better yet, try putting out some seasoned salt in case they want something extra.

23. Cinnamon

Needless to say, this one’s for the sweet potato lovers. Most of the above baked potato toppings would be just as delicious on a sweet potato.  But I don’t think cinnamon would be the best option for a regular potato.  I like to mix the cinnamon with a bit of sugar and butter so it melts into the flesh.

24. Mediterranean

Tzatziki is a blend of yogurt with cucumbers, salt, olive oil, garlic, vinegar or lemon juice, and a number of herbs, including mint, dill, parsley, and thyme. Mix that with some mushrooms, feta, and tomatoes, and your tastebuds will jump for joy!

25. 4-Cheese

There are so many terrific combinations of cheese you can use here, but I highly recommend mozzarella as the main one. You just can’t beat that cheese pull! Along with that, I like to use a strong cheddar and parmesan for a nice salty finish.  Last, if you like it with a kick, go for something spicy or strong, like a brie or blue cheese.
