This easy whole30 chili recipe is inspired by my popular keto chili, which actually happens to be whole30 as well. I just added more veggies to this version, and we’re making it on the stovetop instead of the slow cooker like the other one. Just because I’m all about giving you options. 😉 Since many people like to start the whole30 in January, I thought it was a good time to show you how to make whole30 chili. When you set off on a whole30, be sure to arm yourself with plenty of yummy recipes like cauliflower rice, stir fry vegetables, cauliflower hummus, and roasted chicken and vegetables… all good options that are whole30 approved. How To Make Whole30 Chili

This whole30 classic chili recipe comes together with about 20 minutes of hands-on time, plus time to simmer when you can do something else:

Saute. In a dutch oven, saute onions and peppers in olive oil until slightly browned.

Season. Stir in garlic, chili powder, cumin, and dried oregano, and saute until fragrant.

Brown. Add ground beef and season with salt and pepper. Cook until browned.

Simmer. Add diced tomatoes with green chilies, tomato paste, bone broth or water, and more salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a simmer, cover, and simmer for an hour to bring out the flavors.

What To Serve With Whole30 Chili

Whole30 approved chili goes with many of the same fixings that regular chili goes with, minus the dairy. Here is some inspiration for whole30 toppings:

Chopped onions Fresh cilantro Sliced jalapenos Diced avocado (or even guacamole)

The nice thing about chili is you don’t really need any side dish – it’s a one pot meal. But if you happen to make this outside of a strict whole30, you can also serve it with keto cornbread.

Can I have chili on whole30?

Traditional chili would not be considered to be whole30 compliant for a number of reasons: seed oils, beans, sweeteners, and non-compliant toppings like cheese and sour cream. This easy whole30 chili is made without beans and sweeteners, and made with heart-healthy olive oil, instead of traditional canola oils that you may see in some chili recipes.

Is chili powder whole30 compliant?

Most chili powders would be considered whole30 compliant, but you’ll always want to check the labels to make sure that your seasoning doesn’t contain any preservatives or fillers that would most likely not be considered whole30 compliant.

Can I make this with turkey?

Yes, you could easily swap out the ground beef for ground turkey in this whole30 paleo chili recipe. You can even make it with other cuts of meat, such as a brisket chili.

Whole30 Beef Chili Storage Instructions

Can you make it ahead?

Yes, many people believe that chili actually tastes better the day after making it, so it’s a great meal to make ahead. Store it in the refrigerator for 3-5 days.

Can you freeze whole30 chili?

Yes, you can freeze the chili for 2-3 months. Let it thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating. TIP: Freeze chili in individual portions for convenience. That way, you can take out a portion or two at a time.

How to reheat bean-free chili:

Reheat the chili in the microwave or in the same dutch oven used to make it, until hot.
